I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful. Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it. Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.

Learn to value yourself, which means: fight for your happiness.

Your work is discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it.

You cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness.

What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.

The thing everyone should realize is that the key to happiness is being happy by yourself and for yourself.

The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.

No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change.

Every time you feel yourself being pulled into other people’s drama, repeat these word: Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.

Ask yourself whether you are happy and you cease to be so.

Many things can make you miserable for weeks; few can bring you a whole day of happiness.

Most of us believe in trying to make other people happy only if they can be happy in ways which we approve.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it can make you awfully comfortable while you’re being miserable.

My family didn’t have a lot of money, and I’m grateful for that. Money is the longest route to happiness.

If you look to others for fulfillment, you will never be fulfilled. If your happiness depends on money, you will never be happy with yourself. Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the world belongs to you.

Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.

For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his/her happiness on major events like a great job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.
